Getting It Done On And Off The Court

Dec. 17, 2004

The Florida State women’s basketball team has set another record and this time it has to do with points … grade points. The Seminoles, who are off to a program-best 7-0 start this season, earned an overall team grade point average of 3.27 – the best team single-semester GPA for Florida State in the Sue Semrau era.

Eight of the 10 student-athletes on this year’s team earned a GPA of 3.0 or better. Roneeka Hodges graduated on Dec. 11th with a degree in social sciences and is enrolled in a second bachelor’s degree in political science for the spring semester. Linnea Liljestrand is scheduled to graduate in the spring with a marketing degree while Ganiyat Adeduntan was admitted into the school of Nursing.

“I’m proud of their performance in the classroom,” Semrau said. “It’s the highest GPA we have ever had for one semester. I think that’s a real compliment, again, after all of the adversity that they’ve faced, to have had a slow start, then lock back in and finish the way they did.”
