Giebler Leads Florida State At Coca-Cola Tournament Of Champions

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. –
Senior Al Giebler is tied for 39th-place and the Florida State men’s golf team is in 13th place in the team standings after the second round of the Coca-Cola Tournament of Champions at the Cherokee Country Club. Giebler was the most consistent Seminole player of the day as he shot a three-over par 73 in round one and a four over par 74 in the second round.


Giebler is in his second year as a member of the Seminole golf team and is playing his second event at the Division I level. He played in one event, the Cleveland Gold/Kiawah Island Invitational, during the fall of 2000. He was a member of Central Alabama Community College’s junior college national championship team during the spring 1999 season.


Senior Matt Ackley (Lake Mary, Fla.) shot the best round of the day for the Seminoles, an even-par 70, in round one. He followed his stellar first round score with a 79 in round two and is tied for 54th-place entering round three.


Sophomore Alan Beers (Midlothian, Va.) played well in the second round as he carded a three-over par 73. He is in a tie for 58th-place entering the third round.


The third and final round of the event, a shotgun start, begins at 8:30 Tuesday morning.
