TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) –
Having just returned from one power packed tournament in California, the Seminole women’s golf team will face another tough field in their second tournament of the spring season as the play in the AllState Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate hosted by Tulane University. The tournament will be held at the English Turn Golf & Country Club, New Orleans, La., Feb. 26-28, 2012. The tournament will be played over three days with 18 holes played each day. A total of 15 schools will play for the trophy.

THE 2012 ALLSTATE SUGAR BOWL INTERCOLLEGIATE FIELD
No. 31 Florida State will face another tough field in their second of five regular season tournaments this spring at the 2012 AllState Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Championship hosted by Tulane University. The Seminoles are joined by No. 2 Alabama, No. 3 Auburn, No. 4 USC, No. 12 Florida, No. 14 Texas A&M, No. 16 Duke, No. 18 Oregon, No. 19 Baylor, No. 22 Colorado, No. 30 Tulsa, Ole Miss, Tulane, East Carolina and Kennesaw State. Ryan Herrington of Golf Digest ranked the 2012 Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Golf Championship as the fourth-best women’s collegiate tournament for the spring season. USC is the defending tournament champion and will defend its team title this weekend. The Women of Troy captured last year’s team championship with a four-shot victory over Alabama.

SEMINOLES TOP FOUR RANKED TEAMS IN SEASON OPENER
Florida State defeated four ranked teams including No.12 Florida, No.18 Oregon, No. 21 UC Davis and No. 24 Oklahoma at the season opening Northrup Grumman Challenge and begins the AllState Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate ranked No. 31 in the first Golfweek rankings of the spring season.

SALINAS EARNS ANOTHER TOP 10 INDIVUDAL FINISH
Florida State’s Maria Salinas finished in a tie for 10th place in the individual standings at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge at the Palos Verdes Golf Club. Salinas played her best golf in the first round of the event as she carded a one under par 70. Her 10th place individual finish is her best of her senior season and marked her second top 10 finish in her last four events. She has now earned 10 career top 10 individual finishes including six during her three-year career at Florida State.

SOLID START FOR THE SPRING SEASON
The women’s golf team finished in 10th place in the team standings at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge at the Palos Verdes Golf Club. The No. 31 ranked Seminoles finished ahead of four teams ranked higher in the national rankings in the final standings. The Seminoles finished the tournament with a three day score of 915 which marked their second best score for the 2011-12 season. Freshman Laure Castelain (Bordeaux France) had another solid finish of her freshman year with a tie for 35th place in the individual standings with a 228 total.
