Golf Plays At Lady Tar Heel

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –
The No. 16 Florida State women’s golf team, which has earned a first place and two second place team finishes in its three events so far this year, closes outs its fall season at the 2009 Lady Tar Heel Invitational, Oct. 9-11. The Seminoles, who earned a team victory at the University of Kentucky Invitational and finished in second place in the team standings at both the Cougar Fall Classic and the Eat A Peach Collegiate, face their stiffest test of the season as they compete against 14 top 30 teams in the country in one of the strongest fields in the nation this season. The Seminoles are ranked 16th nationally by GolfStat. Following their participation in the Lady Tar Heel Invitational, the Seminoles are not scheduled to play until they open their spring schedule at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic, Feb. 7-9, 2010.

THE 2009 LADY TAR HEEL INVITATIONAL FIELD
No. 16 Florida State is joined by No. 2 Auburn, No. 4 Michigan State, No. 11 Denver, No. 12 Alabama, No. 14 Duke, No. 17 Virginia, No. 20 South Carolina, No. 22 Tennessee, No. 23 Vanderbilt, No. 24 Wake Forest, No. 25, Texas A&M, No. 26 Louisville, No. 27 North Carolina, East Carolina, Kent State, NC State, and UNC Wilmington in the three-day, 54-hole event which will be played at the par 72, 6,285 yard Finely Golf Course at the University of North Carolina. The tee times will begin at 9:00 a.m. on holes No. 1 and No. 10 on Friday and Saturday and will conclude with a shotgun start on Sunday. Wake Forest is the defending team champion.

SEMINOLES FINISH IN SECOND PLACE AT EAT AT PEACH COLLEGIATE
Led by eighth place individual finishes by senior Lacey Agnew (Jonesboro, Ga.) and junior Macarena Silva (Santiago, Chile) Florida State finished in a tie for second place at the Eat A Peach Collegiate at the Idle Hour Country Club. The finish was the third consecutive top two team finish for the Seminoles. With Agnew and Silva earning top-10 finishes, the Seminoles were one of only three teams in the event which finished with two players in the top 10 of the individual standings.

AGNEW PLAYING CONSISTENTLY
Senior Lacey Agnew finished in a tie for eighth place at the Eat A Peach Collegiate to earn her third consecutive top-10 individual finish of the fall 2009 season. She also finished in second place at the Cougar Classic and in fifth place at the Kentucky Invitational. It marks the first time she has finished in the top 10 in three consecutive events during her entire career.

SILVA LEADING SEMINOLES
Junior Macarena Silva finished in a tie for eighth place in the individual standings at the East A Peach Collegiate to also mark the third consecutive time she finished in the top 10 of a tournament this fall. Silva won her first career individual championship at the Kentucky Invitational, finished in a tie for eighth at the Eat A Peach and completed the season-opening Cougar Classic in a tie for 10th place.
