Golf Travels To The Olympia Fields/Illini Invitational

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State men’s golf team continues their fall season at the 2012 Olympia Fields/Illini Invitational at the Olympia Fields Country Club South Course in Olympia Fields, Ill., this Sunday. The team is rolling out their third different line-up at the three day, 54 hole event on a 7,080-yard par 70 course. The teams tee off Sunday at 8 a.m. and will continue through Tuesday.

In the line-up for the Seminoles this weekend are seniors Chase Seiffert (Panama City, Fla.), Doug Letson (Tampa, Fla.), junior Bjorn Hellgren (Vasteras, Sweden), sophomore Daniel Berger (Jupiter, Fla.) and freshman Hank Lebioda.

The Seminoles are part of a 14 team field including No. 2 SMU, No. 4 Florida, No. 13 Northwestern, No. 18 Illinois, No. 19 Clemson, No. 25 Indiana, Arkansas, Auburn, Augusta State, Duke, Oklahoma State, Purdue and Stanford.

Last season the team finished 6th at the event with a 34-over 874. Former Seminole Brooks Koepka finished in tied for seventh at the event with a 5-over 215. Live stats can be viewed here:

While the team is traveling to Illinois, three different members will be en route to Antalya, Turkey to represent their home countries in the 2012 World Amateur Team Championships from Oct. 4-7 at the Antalya Golf Club and Cornelia Golf Club. The tournament is a 72 holes stroke play with 18 holes played on each of the four days. Representing the Seminoles is junior Joaquin Lolas (Lima, Peru) and freshmen Cristobal Del Solar (Viña del Mar, Chile) and Rowin Caron (Terheijden, The Netherlands).
