Grisell Named to CoSIDA Academic All-America

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.  –  Florida State diver Dylan Grisell was named to the 2016-17 Academic All-America Division I Men’s At-Large Second Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.

Grisell was one of seven student-athletes that earned multiple nods during his career, winning Third Team accolades in 2015-16.

The honor recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combine performances athletically and in the classroom.

“I am extremely honored by this achievement,” Grisell said. “I’ve always put school first and I am very thankful to Florida State for providing me with the opportunities to be the best student-athlete I could be. Science has always been a passion of mine and I am excited to start this new chapter.”

Grisell is preparing to take the MCAT exam in July and plans to attend medical school in either the United States or Canada following his graduation in December of 2017.

The Toronto, Ont. native was one of 15 student-athletes on the Second Team as 45 overall were recognized for At-Large sports which included, swimming and diving, rowing, wrestling, volleyball, golf, tennis, gymnastics, Lacrosse, ice hockey, water polo, skiing, and fencing.

As a biological science major, Grisell captured his third career All-ACC Academic Team nod in 2017. He finished ninth on platform at the NCAA Championships, becoming the first Seminole in history to capture back-to-back All-America honors in the event, following a seventh place finish in 2016. He also won silver on platform at the 2017 ACC Championships, garnering All-ACC honors.
