TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Junior ace Sarah Hamilton has been named to the list of 25 finalists for the USA Softball Player of the Year Award announced by the Amateur Softball Association of America (ASA).
The Top 25 list represents 20 schools and seven different NCAA Division I Conferences. The list is comprised of 10 seniors, seven juniors, one sophomore and seven freshmen. The 2010 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will be chosen from the 25 finalists.
Hamilton, from Tallahassee, Fla., currently leads the Seminoles with a staggering 1.04 ERA. She is the defending Atlantic Coast Conference Pitcher of the Year.
She has already thrown two no-hitters this season and has been named the ACC’s pitcher of the week.
“It is great for `Hammy’ to be recognized across the country,” FSU head coach Lonni Alameda said. “She works really hard and is always focused on getting better and better. It’s definitely a team effort to keep her there and we are all very proud of her.”
Just days before the start of post-season play, a list of 10 finalists will be named and released on May 12. The three finalists will be announced May 26th while the winner of the 2010 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Award will be announced prior to the start of the 2010 NCAA Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City.
