FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – Day 2 of the U.S. Open did not see any Seminoles in the medal hunt, but once again personal records fell. Robby Hayes beat his previous personal best in the preliminary race of the 100 meter freestyle, while Stephanie Sarandos tied her personal best in the 200 meter backstroke preliminaries. Ian Rowe did not reach the finals in the 200 meter backstroke, but he set a personal record as well in the preliminary round.
Hayes and Sarandos competed in the bonus final of their respective events. The bonus final is comprised of those swimmers who finished the preliminary round in places 17 to 24. Hayes finished tied for fourth in the final with a time of 50.93 to take the 20th overall spot in the race. Sarandos finished 8th in her heat with a time of 2:16.63 to finish in 24th place overall. Rowe finished 31st overall in his race with a time of 2:04.24.
Hayes and Rowe will be back in the water for the third straight day as Hayes competes in the 100 meter butterfly and Rowe swims in the 400 meter freestyle. Also swimming for Club Seminole on Day 3 is C.J. Hendry in the 100 meter fly. For meet results and more check back with Seminoles.com.
