Steeve Gabart was one of more than 9,000 runners who participated over the weekend in the Run for Haiti held in New York City’s Central Park to raise money for the Hatian relief efforts.

Gabart, the Haitian national record-holder in the 5000m and 10000m ran the race in 20:15.

“This shows what kind of nation we live in, that we can get people together so quickly to help out,” Gabart said.

The event raised more than $400,000 that will go directly to New York City’s Haiti Relief Fund.
