TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Juniors Tyler Holton and Jackson Lueck were named preseason All-Americans by Perfect Game Tuesday morning. Holton is a second-team starting pitcher, while Lueck is a third-team outfielder.
Holton, from Tallahassee, was previously named a first-team preseason All-American by Collegiate Baseball. He enters 2018 after a standout sophomore season, finishing with a 10-3 record, 2.34 earned run average and 144 strikeouts in 119.1 innings pitched. Holton is expected to lead a deep Seminole pitching staff that returns all three weekend starters from a College World Series team in 2017.
Holton was a first-team All-American and All-ACC performer in 2017.
Lueck, from Orlando, hit .318 with 21 extra base hits in 2017 despite missing 13 games due to injury and illness. Lueck has led Florida State in hitting each of his first two seasons in Tallahassee and has a combined .341 average. He had a perfect fielding percentage as FSU’s starting left fielder.
Florida State opens practice January 26 and the season begins three weeks later, on February 16, 2018, at home against Xavier.
