Horner Places Third On One-Meter On First Day Of NCAA Zone B Championships

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.- Junior Terry Horner was the highest finisher of the day for the Florida State diving team on the first day of the NCAA Zone B diving championships in Knoxville, Tenn. Horner placed third on the one-meter board with a 12-dive total of 722.65.

Senior Scott Derner placed 18th for the Seminoles with a score of 572.40 while senior Dan Frebel just missed the finals and placed 19th. The top 11 men from a combination of the one-meter, three-meter and platform events will qualify for the NCAA Championships.

On the women’s side freshman Lisi Rowland was the highest finisher on the three-meter for Florida State. Rowland placed seventh with a 12-dive total of 576.75. Junior Katie Sirounis also made the finals finishing in 16th position (526.85). Sophomore Katherine Adham and junior Aleia Monden placed 29th and 30th respectively. The top 10 women from the weekend’s events will advance to the NCAA Championships.

The meet will continue on Saturday with the men competing on the three-meter and the women competing on the one-meter. For live scoring beginning at 1:00 p.m., visit www.seminoles.com.
