TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – This weekend on Sunday, February 24, IMG Academy is set to host No. 28 Florida State and No. 5 Pepperdine at 1 p.m. This marks the first time the Seminoles are playing a neutral match at IMG Academy. Matches are set to be streamed for free online.
“It’s a neutral site, however I like the fact it’s in the state of Florida,” said head coach Dwayne Hultquist. “We have a lot of support in the Bradenton, Sarasota and Tampa areas. We have a lot of former players that live in that area as well. We have a good following so it’s fun to play a match down there. I’m thrilled to see college tennis have more TV exposure. With it being live streamed and having legendary coach Nick Bollettieri commenting on it, I think it should be a great event.”
IMG Academy has 52 tennis courts, indoor, hard and clay, which makes it an opportune place to host a college match. For Florida State, IMG Academy is home to former Seminoles Jason Zafiros, current student-athlete Dominic Cotrone and recent signee Grayson Goldin. The match is free to the public and can also be viewed online for free at live.imgacademies.com.
“The IMG Academy staff and students are excited to host Florida State, Pepperdine and all the local alumni in the area,” said Director of Recruitment Scott Treibly. “We are proud to have former IMG Academy alumni on both sides of the net. This will be a great match against two college tennis programs very rich in history. We are excited about televising the event on a live stream so that the whole world can watch.”
Set over 450 pristine acres in Bradenton, Fla., IMG Academy features programs throughout the year in tennis, golf, basketball, baseball, soccer, lacrosse, football and athletic and personal development. Since the start of IMG Academy, its trained athletes have won 131 All Stars, 63 MVP Awards, 22 World Championships, 5 National Titles, 2 Heisman Trophies, 889 Tournament, 107 Major Championships and 11 Olympic Medals.
