FLUSHING, N.Y. – Junior Guy Iradukunda fell to Wake Forest’s Skander Mansouri in heartbreaking fashion 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 in the round of 32 of the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships on Thursday afternoon.
To earn a spot in the exclusive field, Iradukunda defeated four ITA-ranked opponents en route to the Southeast Regional Championship in Tallahassee two weeks ago.
Iradukunda continues a successful fall season in which he became just the second Seminole to win the ITA Regional singles title and enter the Indoor Championships, joining Clint Bowles in 2009. Last season, Benjamin Lock earned an at-large bid to the Indoor Championships, where he won the consolation draw.
Considered the second leg of the collegiate Grand Slam along with the ITA All-American Championships and the NCAA Championships, the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships will run from Nov. 3-6.
