Senior forward Jacinta Monroe suffered a sprained right ankle less than four minutes into Friday night’s ACC Tournament quarterfinal game against Boston College and did not return to the game. Monroe received x-rays during the second half which were negative and is expected to be ready for postseason play head coach Sue Semrau announced Friday night.
“Losing Jacinta definitely threw our rhythm off,” head coach Sue Semrau said. “We will get her right into treatment this week and have her ready to go come tournament time.”
Monroe is the Seminoles’ leading scorer (13.0 ppg) and rebounder (7.4) and had posted double-doubles in four of the last eight contests for Florida State. The senior forward was recently named to the All-ACC First Team becoming the first Seminole since Roneeka Hodges to earn the honor in 2005.
The Seminoles are set to host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament on March 20 and 22 in the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center. The announcement of the 2010 field will occur on Monday, March 15 at 7 p.m. on ESPN.
