TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State senior right guard Tre’ Jackson captured ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week honors for the second time in three weeks on Monday, while senior tight end Nick O’Leary (Mackey Award Midseason Watch List) and redshirt sophomore quarterback Jameis Winston (Manning Award Star of the Week) also were tabbed for honors.
Jackson graded out at 94 percent – the highest grade of any Florida State offensive lineman this season – while leading the Seminole blockers in a 38-20 victory at Syracuse. Jackson paved the way for FSU to tally 482 yards of total offense, which included 317 yards passing and 165 yards on the ground. Jackson opened holes for FSU’s third-team running back, true freshman Dalvin Cook, to rush for 122 yards – the most by a Seminole freshman since 2008. Jackson also delivered three knockdown blocks in the win.
He also earned the ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week award on Sept. 29, following the Seminoles victory at NC State.
O’Leary, one of three finalists for the 2013 Mackey Award given to the nation’s top tight end, was named to the award’s Midseason Watch List.
The Palm Beach, Fla., native has 24 receptions for 275 yards and two touchdowns this season for the 6-0 Seminoles. On Saturday, O’Leary hauled in a career-high eight receptions for 97 yards in a score. He became FSU’s all-time leader in receptions (90) and touchdowns (13) by a tight end in the process.
Winston was named a Manning Star of the Week for the first time this season following a proficient offensive output at Syracuse. The reigning Heisman Trophy winner had a career-best 30 completions on 36 passing attempts for 317 yards and three touchdowns. The win over the Orange improved Winston’s record to 19-0 all-time, tying former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy for the longest winning streak to start a career since 2000.
