The Florida State basketball team will mark the official opening of practice for the 2010-11 season as it plays host to the second annual “Jam With Ham” on Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. at Tully Gym on the FSU campus. The event is free and features games and activities for kids, students and adults and the anticipated unveiling of head Coach Leonard Hamilton’s ninth team with is expected to challenge for the Atlantic Coast Conference crown.
Florida State enters the 2010-11 season as one of the most talked about teams in the nation with All-American Chris Singleton having already been named as one of college basketball’s top candidates for the John R. Wooden Award. Singleton, the reigning ACC Defensive Player of the Year, leads a veteran cast of season upperclassmen including guards Derwin Kitchen, Deividas Dulkys and Luke Loucks as well as forward Xavier Gibson.
The open scrimmage followed by a three-point contest and a slam dunk challenge. The event will also feature free pizza and t-shirts and opportunities to win great prizes including iPod’s, cash and free rent. There will also be appearances by the FSU Cheerleaders, Golden Girls and Seminole Sound. Players and coaches will also be signing autographs for all fans in attendance at the conclusion of the on court activities.
The Seminoles begin their quest for their third straight NCAA Tournament appearance and ACC Championship with their season opener Nov. 12 against North Florida.
