TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –
Florida State pole vaulter Lacy Janson was named Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Track and Field Performer of the Week, as announced by the conference on Tuesday. This is the second weekly honor for Janson this year.
At the Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. this past weekend, Janson broke her own school record in the women’s pole vault by vaulting 13’05.25″ to take first place and automatically qualify for the NCAA’s. Janson’s mark is the second-highest vault in the nation by a freshman and ranks as the eighth-best height overall. The height was only a quarter of an inch off the ACC record and is the top mark in the conference this year. Janson’s mark also broke the three-year old O’Connell Center Indoor Track record.
Janson and the rest of the Seminole track and field team will return to action on February 15-16, when they travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. to compete at the ACC Indoor Track and Field Championship.
