Just going back to last game I was happy with the way our guys played. They played well and we needed to play well as we move forward. Matt Grothe is a great quarterback and we all know that. His play speaks volumes. He is a great young man and we all feel bad for Matt. B.J. Daniels is a heck of a quarterback and we are excited about what he can do and Evan Landi. We are excited about Florida State, we know they are awfully good, everybody knows that. They showed that by going out and doing what they did to BYU; a team that beat Oklahoma. It is a great opportunity for us and should be a heck of a ballgame.
How does playing Florida State help in the progression of building your program?
Certainly everyone knows the tradition of Florida, Florida State and Miami. In the last twenty years those programs have escalated to three awfully strong traditional programs. We had an opportunity to play down in Miami a number of years ago and I thought we did some good things. It kind of set our direction of just where we want to get to. Certainly Coach Bowden and his storied career and what he has done at Florida State with that program is legendary. For us to have the opportunity to play them and compete, hopefully we will compete at a high level. We haven't gone in there and played before but I think it is very important for our program. It is important for our program to get involved in games against Florida State, Florida and Miami.
He is a great kid and a class act. That's what makes him more than
anything else. B.J. is a confident young man, has a tremendous
athletic talent, throws the ball very well, runs well and has great
leadership ability. We recruited B.J. knowing all of those things.
B.J. will continue to grow and develop but he is excited about his
opportunity. We are excited about B.J., we are excited about him
quarterbacking for us and the talents he has. His focus has always
been great and he will work very hard, he has been doing that for a
while now. Evan Landi is also going to have to be ready.
You are 3-0 but you have played three FCS teams and Florida State
has played some really good teams. Do you have a sense of where you
Our guys understand the difference, they understand the whole deal. I
don't think that will have any bearing on it whatsoever. We understand
the level that we have to play at. I understand what you are saying,
how do you play teams that probably are not near the level of Florida
State or the Big East but it is what it is. Our players understand
that and they go against each other every day. We go ones on ones
quite a bit, twos on twos and we understand the level is different. I
believe we will be ready for it.
