Katy Baker is in her second year as an Assistant Sports Information Director with the Florida State Athletics Department. She returned to FSU in August 2006 after having interned in the SID office as a sports management student from 2001-03. Upon graduating from FSU in December of 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in sports management, Baker took on a full-time position with Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Central Florida as an event coordinator. She worked with such clients as U.S. Youth Soccer, Pop Warner Championships, National Cheer and Dance and the 2005 Funai Golf Classic, among others.
In her first season as an SID, Katy worked with the men’s and women’s cross country teams as well as women’s track and field and the back-to-back national champion men’s track and field team. While working with the championship program, Baker had the opportunity to travel to Washington D.C. and meet President Bush in a ceremony for all NCAA National Champion teams in June of 2007. She currently works with the Seminole women’s volleyball and softball teams.
Baker was born in Fort Wayne, Ind., but raised in Orlando, Fla., and is the daughter of Bill and Jo Ann Baker. She has one older brother, Bill, who was a graduate assistant in the FSU sports information office before becoming a full-time teacher and head lacrosse coach at West Orange High School.
