GREENSBORO, N.C. – Junior Jordan Kelly-Houston was named to the 2012 All-ACC Men’s Tennis Team today as announced by Atlantic Coast Conference commissioner John Swofford. This is the 13th straight season a member of the squad has been named to the team.
“It’s rewarding to be recognized amongst the best in the ACC,” said Kelly-Houston. “I hope I can continue to represent Florida State at a high standard next year as a senior.”
Kelly-Houston was ranked as high as No. 47 in doubles this season along with teammate Blake Davis. The duo posted a 16-13 record this year and won three ranked matches against ACC teams. The duo won 8-6 over No. 24 Horney/Collins of Maryland, 8-6 over No. 26 Cunha/Mengel of Duke and 8-5 over Somen/Tocci of Virginia Tech.
“Jordan has clearly made great strides from last year to this year,” said head coach Dwayne Hultquist. “He showed this fall by reaching the quarterfinals of the ITA Regionals and picking up ACC wins that he has the ability to be a top player in the ACC.”
In singles play, the Christchurch, New Zealand, native has an 18-17 record on the year including two ranked wins. He defeated No. 104 Wael Kilani of USF 6-3, 7-5 and No. 77 Rafael Aita of UNC-Wilmington 6-2, 6-3. Throughout the season he played against the top players in the country at the No. 1 spot.
