WAIKOLOA, Hawaii (seminoles.com) –
Florida State University senior golfer Drew Kittleson finished with a three round score of 219 and closed as the Seminoles’ leader in the individual standings as play in the Amer Ari Invitational on the Waikoloa Kings’ Course came to a close on Friday. Kittleson was the highest finishing of the five Seminoles in the event as the team finished in 19th place in the team standings in the spring season opening event for the team.

No. 4 ranked Oklahoma State cruised to a five stroke victory in the team standings over No. 7 ranked Texas and a six stroke win over No. 2 ranked UCLA. The Cowboys took over the lead in the second round and held the lead through the third round to take the team championship. Oregon’s Daniel Miernicki carded a 72 in the final round and led wire to wire in claiming the individual title.

Oklahoma State won the team championship – the Cowboys were one of 12 teams ranked in the top 40 in the event.

Kittleson (Scottsdale, Ariz.) finished with scores of 71-73-75 for his three round total of 219. His best round of 71 in the first round saw him spend the entire round at or below par. Kittleson was at or blow par over the course of his first 32 holes and for 40 of the 54 holes he played during the tournament.

Junior Brooks Koepka (Wellington, Fla.) played his best round of the tournament as he carded an even par 72 in the final round. He finished with a three round total of 221. Koepka finished his final 12 holes of the afternoon at one under par and finished the round at even par.

Florida State will play at the Gator Invitational in their next event Feb. 12-13.
