TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State middle blocker Taryn Knuth has been named the ACC Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday (Nov. 27).
Against the Tigers, Knuth had a hand on 13 of the team’s 16 total blocks, which was the most the Seminoles had seen in a three-set match this season. She led the middles with four kills on 16 total attacks to help FSU win in straight sets over Clemson.
In FSU’s final conference match of the season against Georgia Tech, Knuth led the Seminoles with six total blocks (one solo), earning them all in the first set to hold the Yellow Jackets to a zero hitting percentage. Knuth also hit .400 with eight kills on 15 attacks to help propel the Seminoles to its second sweep of the week.
Knuth ranks in the top 5 on the team in nine major statistical categories, and leads the team with a .311 hitting percentage (100+ kills), 22 solo blocks, 136 assisted blocks (158 total) and 1.50 blocks per set.
Her 1.50 blocks per set leads the ACC and ranks 11th nationally, while her 158 total blocks ranks 2nd in the conference and 16th nationally.
