Knuth Picks Up First ACC Weekly Honor

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State middle blocker Taryn Knuth has been selected the Atlantic Coast Conference Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday (Oct. 30).

The Johnston, Iowa native led all players in hitting percentage in FSU’s matches against North Carolina and NC State, hitting .750 with nine kills and no errors against the Tar Heels and .500 with 13 kills on 22 attacks against the Wolfpack. Knuth was the only Seminole to hit at least .500 in both matches over the weekend.

Knuth also added 10 total blocks and 10 digs for the Seminoles over the weekend, and was the only player among both teams in Friday’s match against North Carolina to pick up multiple solo blocks.

This season, Knuth leads the team with 108 total blocks (15 solo), and her .298 hitting percentage is the second highest on the team. The freshman’s 1.36 blocks per set in ACC play ranks third in the conference, and her 1.38 blocks per set this season ranks 29th nationally.

Knuth is the second Seminole to be recognized by the conference this season, joining senior right side hitter Milica Kubura (Sept. 25).
