WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Davidson Kozlowski ousts No.1 seed Brian Vahaly from the University of Virginia, to advance to the semifinals of the ACC Indoor Men’s Tennis Championships.
Earlier in the day, Kozlowski moved on when Raul Munoz retired after
losing the first set 6-3. That set up the match up with last year’s ACC
Rookie of the Year, Brian Vahaly. Kozlowski pulled out the upset in three sets, winning 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. Kozlowski will now meet Duke’s Pedro
Escudero, the No.4 seed, at 9am Sunday morning.
In the third round of the tournament, FSU’s Ty Braswell, a six seed, lost a heartbreaker against Duke’s Dmitry Muzyka, a 1998 All-ACC selection. The two traded 6-4 sets before Muzyka won a third set tiebreaker to move on to the quarterfinals.
