Kubura Honored by ACC
GREENSBORO, N.C. – For the first time in her Florida State career outside hitter Milica Kubura has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday. It marks the third time that she has received weekly ACC honors, after being named ACC Freshman of the Week on two occasions in 2014 (Sept. 8; Oct. 27). The Belgrade, Serbia, native brought home the honor after posting 27 kills (3.86 kills/set), five digs and three blocks as the 13th-ranked Seminoles went 1-1 in pair of matches against SEC opponents last week.
Kubura opened her week by tying her career-high in kills (19), to go along with two blocks and one dig as she posted a .418 hitting percentage in a four-set setback to seventh-ranked Florida on Sept. 14. She followed that by recording eight kills and four digs in Florida State’s fourth sweep of the season at LSU on Sunday afternoon.
Kubura and the No. 13 Seminoles went 1-1 against SEC opponents this past week. In the four-set loss to seventh-ranked Florida, the junior tallied 19 kills, two blocks, a dig and finished with a  .418 hitting percentage. She followed that performance by recording eight kills and four digs in the Florida State sweep of LSU.
“Milica had a great week and performed at a high level,” said head coach Chris Poole. “We need her to be a big weapon for us as ACC play begins this week and I’m proud that she continues to work hard.”
The Seminoles now turn their attention to a Atlantic Coast Conference play where they host the first of four matches at Tully Gym against ACC archrival Miami (Sept. 23) at 7 p.m. and follow with a meeting against Louisville (Sept. 25) at 1 p.m.
