KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Florida State volleyball’s Milica Kubura has been named an All-America Honorable Mention, the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced on Wednesday (Dec. 13) afternoon.
This honor gives the senior right side hitter her second consecutive All-America nod and fifth AVCA honor. Kubura has now racked up three postseason awards since the conclusion of the 2017 regular season, and 12 career postseason awards for her performance on the court. Earlier this season she was named to the First Team All-ACC and AVCA All-East Region Team.
“I’m very excited for Mili,” said head coach Chris Poole. “She had a great career as a Seminole, and is very deserving of this award for all of her hard work.”
Kubura is the 18th Seminole to earn an AVCA All-American nod, and only the fifth to be recognized by the coaching association multiple times in a career. This recognition comes after she became the first four-time All-ACC honoree in FSU history, and earning her second spot on the AVCA All-East Region Team.
The Belgrade, Serbia native made a name for herself in her four-year career as a Seminole, becoming only the fifth player in the rally scoring era to earn 1,000 career kills. She is ranked in the top-15 in FSU’s rally scoring history in six different categories – with 1,222 kills (2nd), 2.73 kills per set (12th), 2,748 total attacks (3rd), .303 attack percentage (11th), 311 assisted blocks (5th) and 330 total blocks (8th).
Kubura wrapped up a solid senior campaign leading the team in kills with 381 and kills per set with 3.56. As the Seminoles’ primary offensive leader, her 3.56 kills per set currently ranks 8th in the ACC and 128th nationally, while her 4.14 points per set ranks 7th in the conference and 107th nationally. Kubura’s tough front row defense is also ranked highly, as her 1.07 blocks per set ranks 12th in the conference and 142nd nationally, and her 114 total blocks this season ranks 11th in the conference and 157th nationally.
