TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida State women’s golf team, coming off
a second place finish at their own Lady Seminole Invitational last weekend,
return to the links this weekend at the 1999 Lady Buckeye Fall Invitational
in Columbus, Ohio.
“We are looking forward to getting back out there,” said FSU
women’s coach Debbie Dillman. “I thought we did alright for our first
tournament last week but this will be a little tougher. We are playing
somewhere that we aren’t familiar with and we have a young group.”
Florida State joins host Ohio State and 11 other teams in the
field: Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Furman, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana State,
Memphis, Michigan State, Purdue and Wake Forest.
The 54-hole tournament begins Saturday morning and concludes Sunday.
The five players that Dillman will bring to the event are Louise
Wright, Kristin Tamulis, Laura Kowalski, Beth McCumber and Stacey Burgin.
Wright finished third in last week’s opening event with a two-over par 218,
two shots back of first place. Tamulis was seventh at six-over, 218.
Kowalski finished 16th (+13, 229), McCumber placed 22nd (+20, 238) and
Burgin tied for 26th (+24, 242).
