TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The 19th-ranked Florida State Lady Seminoles
improved their home dual match record to 2-0 today after defeating the
Jacksonville University Lady Dolphins 9-0. The win improves the Lady
Seminoles overall record to 4-2.
In singles play, Alida Gallovits led the sweep of the Lady Dolphins
by beating Meeta Korgaonkar in two sets at No.1 singles, 6-1, 6-2. This
improves Gallovits’ overall singles record to 13-5. FSU’s Kia Asberg won
her third match in a row by beating JU’s Loren Goldsmith 6-0, 6-1 to
improve her overall singles record to 13-5 and dual match play to 4-2.
Marina Raic, who led the Lady Seminoles in wins last year, defeated
Jacksonville’s Tamara Kaftalovich at No.5 singles, 6-2, 7-5.
In doubles, the Florida State duo of Duxin and Gallovits won their
second match of the season in the No.1 position by defeating Jacksonville’s
Koregaonkar and Pinciotti 8-1. The win improves both their overall record
and dual match record to an impressive 4-1. The team of Kia Asberg and
Marina Raic won their third match in a row together by defeating JU’s team
of Kaftalovich and Perovic 8-0, while FSU’s duo of sophomore Jessica
Balbuena and senior Ali Weber recovered nicely from last weekend’s doubles
loss to defeat JU’s Dallman and Kennedy,
The Florida State Lady Seminoles will face Florida International
University on Saturday, February 19th at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center.
Action will start at 12:00pm.
