Junior Jennifer Werrick notched 13 kills, but Florida State hit only .042 in a 0-3 loss to the Tigers. Clemson outblocked FSU 11 to 4.

The Lady Seminoles hitting woes continued at Georgia Tech as FSU tallied just a .129 hitting percentage in its 0-3 loss. Sophomore Norisha Campbell led Florida State with 16 kills.

Florida State 3, Florida A&M 0

Florida State snapped its losing streak with a 3-0 sweep of cross-town rival FAMU. Werrick posted 22 kills, Campbell 14, and freshman Erica Bunch 12 in the victory. FSU recorded a season-high 12 service aces in the win.

Approaching 600

Head coach Dr. Cecile Reynaud is approaching the 600-victory plateau. Entering this week’s play, she has a total of 595 career victories, all as head coach of the Lady Seminoles.

Double-Digit Numbers

Junior outside hitter Jennifer Werrick has been FSU’s offensive leader throughout the season. Werrick has double-digit kill totals in 13 of 16 matches played in 1999. She has tallied 10 or more kills in every match for the Lady Seminoles this month (5 for 5) and recorded a career-high 27 kills against UT-Arlington on September 10th. She and MH Aisha Thornton have each topped 20 kills in three matches this season. Thornton notched 23 against Maryland on October 1st.

In Overtime

Florida State has had eight games in its 18 matches that have needed more than the usual 15 points for victory. The Lady Seminoles are 2-6 in these games with 17-15 game two win over Auburn and a 16-14 game two victory over Florida Atlantic. Most recently, Florida State fell 14-16 in game two at Georgia Tech.

Middle Hitters Star for FSU in ACC Play

Senior middle hitter Aisha Thornton and sophomore MH Norisha Campbell have led the Lady Seminoles statistically in their first four Atlantic Coast Conference matches this season. Each is averaging over 3.5 kills per game and 1.2 blocks per game. Thornton leads the team with .368 hitting percentage in ACC play. Among Atlantic Coast Conference players, Campbell ranks 3rd and Thornton 5th in blocks per game.

Injury Report

Only freshman outside hitter Kristin Frye remains out of action for the Lady Seminoles this weekend. Frye suffered a hairline fracture of her right ankle during game two of FSU’s match with Virginia. She is expected to be sidelined until at least early November. Aisha Thornton, who sat out FSU’s matches with Georgia Tech, Clemson, and Florida A&M will return to the lineup for the Lady Seminoles this Friday against North Carolina.

North Carolina – NC State Tuesday

The Tar Heels outlasted the Wolfpack in Raleigh on Tuesday night to remain undefeated in ACC play with a come-from-behind 15-10, 15-17, 5-15, 15-6, 15-9 victory. Casey Simpson led Carolina with 18 kills and 10 digs. Tori Seibert added 12 kills forUNC. Alison Kreager led NC State with 26 kills and added 10 digs. Tara Green posted 16 kills and 24 digs and Charece Williams tallied 22 kills and 12 digs for the Wolfpack in the loss. UNC outhit NC State .254 to .206 and outblocked the Wolfpack 11-6.
