Lady Seminoles Named to Louisville Slugger All Region Team

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Two Florida State softball players were named to the Louisville Slugger Southeast All-Region Team after their performances this season. Danielle Cox was placed on the first team while Christy Cerecedes garnered second team honors.


Cox, the senior from Anniston, Alabama, finished the season leading the ACC and NCAA in stolen bases with her 73 and broke two school single season records. She nabbed her 70th stolen base in the first game of the double header with South Florida to break the single season stolen base record and recorded hit #93 in game two of the doubleheader to break the single season hits record. Cox led the team in batting average (.432), runs (52), hits (98) and home runs (2) along with her stolen bases as well as taking the top spot in the career record book for batting average. She was also named the MVP for the ACC Softball Tournament last weekend.


The sophomore from Hacienda Heights, California, Cerecedes started in 63 games this season and led the team in RBI’s with her 33. She also tied for the top spot on the team and in the ACC in triples with five and led the team with 12 doubles. Cerecedes was second on the team in batting average (.337) and in hits (60) and runs (30) as she added 14 stolen bases and was third on the team in putouts.


Cox will advance to the national ballot for a shot at All-American. She and Cerecedes were joined by six other ACC softball players on the All-Region teams.
