Academic Counselor (Football)

Lamont Green returned to Florida State University in February 2008 as an Academic Counselor for football student athletes. Lamont is responsible for coordinating support services for football student-athletes, monitoring their academic progress and counseling them on academic issues such as course and major selection, study habits and eligibility requirements. Lamont also assists in the recruiting process for the football program.
Lamont was an All-Conference football student athlete at Florida State University from 1994-1998. In his senior year, he was selected as team captain and played an integral part in the team’s run for the National Championship in the Fiesta Bowl. Lamont played several years in the NFL prior to retiring due to injuries.

Lamont received his Bachelor’s Degree from FSU in Criminology & Criminal Justice in 2002. He earned his Master’s Degree in Education from Nova Southeastern University in 2007. Lamont has three years of high school teaching experience in Exceptional Student Education at Dr. Michael Krop High School in Miami, Florida – his hometown. In addition to his teaching duties, Lamont served as an Assistant Football Coach for the high school and an Academic Advisor at Miami Dade College.

Lamont and his wife, Latonya, have been married for 13 years and have six children, Montese (13), Emoni (11), Lataisha (6), Lamont, Jr. (3) Courtney (1), and Latonya (newborn).
