Tallahassee, Fla. – Florida State Senior Andrew Lemoncello (St. Andrews, Scotland/ Stirling) was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Performer of the Week for the second time this season and the fifth time in his FSU career, for the week of September 27 – October 3, 2005 for his outstanding performance at the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind. on Friday, September 30, 2005.
Lemoncello led the way for the No. 18 Seminoles as he finished the 8K in 11th place with a time of 24:00. Florida State would finish the race in fourth place with 159 points and 15 points ahead of their next closest competition No. 1 Wisconsin. This is the second time that Lemoncello has earned the ACC Performer of the Week honor after running in the Notre Dame Invitational. In 2004, he received the honor after finishing the race in fourth place with a time of 23:48.
The St. Andrews, Scotland native earned the honor earlier this season during the week of September 13-19, for his first place performance at the FSU Invitational. Lemoncello finished the 8K, on his home course, in 24:39.51 and led the Seminoles to the overall team championship.
The Florida State No. 17 men’s and women’s teams will return to action on Saturday, October 15, 2005 at the NCAA Pre-Nationals Meet in Terre Haute, Ind. Then on Monday, October 31, the Seminoles will host 2005 ACC Championships at the Miccosukee Greenway.
