TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Fresh off a fourth-straight crown in the Florida State Invitational, the FSU volleyball team will hit the road for the first time in 2009 as the team heads to Gainesville, Fla. to take on No. 8/9 Florida at 7 p.m.
The match, which will take place at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center on the UF campus, will be aired live on Sun Sports as Larry Vettel and Missy Whittemore will serve as the match announcers.
Against the Gators (2-0), the Seminoles (3-0) will be looking to put an end to what has become a 17-match losing streak that extends all the way back to the 1995 season. Last year, FSU fell in three very close sets at home to the Gators (25-22, 26-24, 26-24).
Florida State enters Monday night’s matchup after a weekend that saw the Seminoles earn sweeps over Central Michigan and Florida A&M and a five-set victory over North Dakota State at the Florida State Invitational. At the conclusion of the two-day event, sophomore outside hitter Rachael Morgan earned MVP honors while senior middle blocker Brianna Barry was also placed on the All-Tournament Team.
Like the Seminoles, Florida also hosted an opening-weekend tournament to start the season. The Gators earned sweeps over both opponents they played, UNLV and Colorado.
