Open Practice Day – March 17, 2006

LOUISIANA TECH HEAD COACH  CHRIS LONG

On Playing in NCAA Tournament

“We are very happy to be here in the tournament and are looking forward to the matchup with Florida State. They are a very good basketball team, extremely athletic, much like us. We have been playing good basketball in the past month and we’re looking forward to the game.”

On how Louisiana Tech matches up with Florida State

“FSU is a very long team, but we also have players that are 5’ll”, 6’2″ on the wings. Inside they may have a little more size (than us), but I think we match up very well. They have quite a few seniors that play and start like us, so I think there will be two experienced basketball teams and two very athletic basketball teams playing tomorrow night.”

On dealing with the altitude

“We have played in altitude all season. Last week we played three games in a higher altitude, although not that well. However, we have dealt with the altitude in our conference all season.”

SENIOR GUARD AARICA RAY-BOYD

On preseason speculation that Louisiana Tech would miss NCAA Tournament for first time

“We heard the rumors during the preseason.  We took it personal.  We have applied it to everything we have done this season.”

SENIOR GUARD TASHA WILLIAMS

On current playing status (Williams injured her ankle during practice this week)

“I can’t really say anything right now.  I am going to go to practice (Friday, Mar. 17) and see how it goes.  It is going to be a game time decision.”

JUNIOR FORWARD TY MOORE

On Tasha Williams’ playing status

“She is our leader.  (If she can not play) We are going to have to step it up a notch.  Hopefully she will play, but we have players others figures who can play the point.”
