GREENSBORO, N.C. − Florida State cross country senior Luke Gunn (Derby, England/Birmingham) has been named a co-Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Cross Country Performer of the Week for his efforts in winning the individual title as well as helping the Seminoles to a team victory this past weekend at the Virginia Tech Alumni Invitational.
Gunn covered the 7.6k Tech Cross Country Course at a record clip, reaching the finish line in a time of 24:06.6. That mark bested the previous course record by nearly 22 seconds as Gunn was the first of four Florida State competitors to cross the finish line before the opposition in a decisive Seminole victory. Included in the field were ACC foes Wake Forest and Virginia Tech as well as College of Charleston, King College and Concord.
Gunn shared the league’s weekly honor with Boston College’s Tim Ritchie while Virginia Tech’s Tasmin Fanning earned the award on the women’s side.
Florida State returns to battle on Saturday, September 27 when they host the Florida State Invitational beginning at 7:30 a.m. (ET). The race will be held at the Miccosukee Greenway Park.
