Macfarlane Earns Win In No. 15 Florida State’s Loss To No. 6 Georgia Tech

ATLANTA, Ga. – The No. 6 Georgia Tech (13-4, 4-1) squad gave No. 15 Florida State (9-5, 2-3) a hard time as the Seminoles lost 6-1 on Sunday, March 25 at the Bill Moore Tennis Center. Georgia Tech featured six ranked singles player and the no. 8 doubles duo in the nation.

In singles play, freshman No. 95 Lauren Macfarlane (Ogden, Utah) gained a victory over No. 116 Alison Silverio in the two spot 6-4, 6-4. Freshman Jessica Wente (Whitehouse, Texas) fought with all of her might but fell in a tie breaker to No. 121 Amanda McDowell 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (10-7).

For the first time since Feb. 3, 2007 against no. 1 Georgia, the Seminoles did not earn a win in any doubles match. Senior Nicola Slater (Ayr, Scotland) and junior Carolin Walter (Bingen, Germany) suffered their second loss of the season, 8-3, against No. 8 Whitney McCray and Kristi Miller.

The Seminoles return to Tallahassee on March 30 against Virginia at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center. The match is schedule to be shown on ACCSelect and begins at 3 pm.
