TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – Florida State senior Ciaran O’Lionaird has been named the South Region Male Cross Country Athlete of the Year, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced Wednesday afternoon.

O’Lionaird, a senior from Ireland, recently finished first by more than two seconds at South Regionals for the No. 6-ranked FSU cross country squad.

He placed fourth at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships to pace the league champion Seminoles.

“Ciaran has had a wonderful senior season and I couldn’t be happier for him,” FSU men’s cross country coach Bob Braman said. “While this is a great honor for Ciaran, I’m sure he’s more concerned about our team’s success than individual accolades.”

And that success could be experienced on Nov. 22 when Florida State travels to compete in Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind.

Seminoles.com will provide complete coverage of the annual event.
