MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Senior Landon Marzullo put the first points of the 2011 Men’s NCAA Championships on the board for the Seminoles placing 15th on the one-meter board on Thursday afternoon.
“We put some points on the board for the team which is always a good thing,” diving coach Patrick Jeffrey said. “Landon did a great job in the prelims, he just needed to be a little sharper and settle down a little bit more.”
Marzullo earned a six dive total of 340.00 to take home honorable mention All-American accolades for the sixth time in his career. Senior Michael Neubacher began his first NCAA meet with a 25th-place showing scoring 298.20 points.
“I think today was what (Landon) needed to see what it takes,” Jeffrey said. “He handled himself really well and I know he can hang with any one of these guys. I also thought Mike dove well today and did some nice dives and I think he will get stronger as the meet goes on.”
The Seminole divers will continue competition on Friday with the three-meter board, while senior Rob Holderness will compete in the 100 breaststroke. For live results and a recap from the day log onto www.seminoles.com.
