GREENSBORO, N.C. – For the second time this season, senior Tiffany McDonald was honored with the ACC Pitcher of the Week award as announce by the conference office on March 31. The starting pitcher joins fellow senior Brittany Osmon as a two-time recipient so far this year.
McDonald, currently 13-3 on the season, went 3-0 after defeating Georgia Southern in game one of a doubleheader on March 26 and taking out ACC opponent Boston College in two starts over the weekend.
The Belfair, Wash., native pitched a total of 20 innings and gave up zero runs while allowing only seven hits. On Wednesday she recorded her first no-hitter this season and struck out 11 batters in the 8-0 shutout against the Georgia Southern Eagles.
In the weekend series against Boston College, McDonald took the mound in games one and three and once again threw two shutouts with a 1-0 and 6-0 win. After two complete games she struck out 24 Eagles and walked just one. She continues to lead the Seminole pitching staff with a 1.01 ERA after 16 showings and her 12 wins currently ranks second in the ACC.
Florida State will play in-town rival Florida A&M on Wednesday, April 2, at 6:00 p.m. before heading to College Park, Md., to take on the Maryland Terrapins in a three-game conference series.
