GREENSBORO, N.C. –
Senior Pilar McShine was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Performer of the Week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday. McShine won the 3000m and placed third in the mile at the Rod McCravy Invitational.
“Pilar had two very solid races including an NCAA provisional qualifying time in the mile,” women’s distance coach Karen Harvey said. “It was a great start to the season and we look forward to seeing bigger and better things from Pilar as the season progresses.”
McShine, undaunted by competing against five ranked teams, beat a field of 21 in the 3,000-meter run. The Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, native, also finished third among 45 participants in the one-mile run in 4:45.67, a provisional qualifying mark. Her performances over the weekend rank fifth and first, respectively, in the ACC this season in each event.
