Melissa Ann Terry joined FSU’s Strength and Conditioning staff in December 2009. What better time than the offseason to begin training the FSU’s nationally ranked soccer team. Along with the design and implementation of the soccer strength and conditioning program Melissa Terry also serves as the strength and conditioning coach for the swimming and diving team.
Originally a native of Chickasha Oklahoma, Melissa graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma in the spring of 2007 with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Health Studies. While attending the University of Central Oklahoma Melissa was a member of the Varsity Soccer team, achieving many athletic honors along the way including; Senior Team Captain, NCAA Adidas All-American, Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the year, and Lone Star Conference Student Athlete of the year. During her junior year Melissa began interning with the strength and conditioning staff at UCO and was hooked.
She began graduate school in January 2008 at Baylor University where she assisted in the weight room with helped with 8 varsity sports (soccer, football, M&W tennis, M&W golf, softball, equestrian). Melissa graduated from Balyor in the spring of 2009 with a Master’s of Science in Exercise Physiology with emphasis in Strength and Conditioning.
Melissa began interning with the University of Oklahoma Athletics in May 2009 through December 2009. While at OU Melissa worked with six different sports, assisting with women’s basketball, baseball, wrestling, and women’s soccer. She was also solely responsible for the design and implementation of the men’s gymnastics and women’s golf strength and conditioning programs.
Melissa is both CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association) and USA Weightlifting certified.
