TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – The Florida State men’s track and field team is currently ranked the No. 1 squad in the entire nation according to MileSplit.

So far this year, the Seminoles have been paced by dominating performers in both field and running events.

Junior Maurice Mitchell is currently the nation’s leader in the 200m dash as his 20.36 in the event is the fastest in the entire world this year.

Ciaran O’Lionaird (distance), Michael Putman (throws) and Brandon Byram (sprints), among others, have also starred this year for the Seminoles with a whole lot more action still on the schedule.

“We’re excited to be ranked No. 1 nationally by Milesplit,” FSU head coach Bob Braman said. “It’s a tribute to the hard work the men have put on so far this outdoor season. The key is to be in that same position at season’s end.”

Next up for the ’Noles is the Seminole Invite and Texas Relays this weekend.

The Seminole Invite will start on Friday at 4 p.m. at Mike Long Track in Tallahassee and will continue Saturday. Part of the men’s and women’s team will be in action at home while the rest will be in Austin, Texas for the two-day event.
