The Florida State men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams began competition today at Florida Atlantic University. The Lady Seminoles defeated the FAU Owls, the final score was not available. The men’s team also defeated the owls 190-113.
The Lady Seminoles won 13 events this afternoon, including the top three in three events. Christy Cech won the 50 Free in a time of 23.71 and the 100 Free, going 51.89 in the event. Keryn Krynauw also won two events, taking the 100 Breast in a time of 1:06 and the 200 Breast in a time of 2:20. Amber Goodwin took wins in the 100 Back (58:82) and 200 Back (2:06). Other winners for the Lady Noles included Summer Bell who took a win in the 200 Free (1:53), Jill Devise in the 200 Fly (2:05), Candice Nethercott in the 100 Fly (56:87). The Lady Seminole relays took the first two spots in the 200 Medley Relay. Chelsie Lerew won both the one-meter springboard and the three-meter springboard.
The Seminoles won 11 events at today’s meet, including three top three finishes. Senior Greg Main-Baillie took three events including the 100 Back with a time of 51:10, the 50 Free with a time of 21:11, and the 100 Free with a time of 45:75. Other winners for the Noles included Erik Moe in the 200 Free (1:45), Jonathan Kaplan in the 200 Back (1:54), and Devin Crock in the 100 Fly (49:78). The Seminole relays took the first two spots as well in the 200 Medley Relay, and the first three spots in the 200 Free Relay. Josh Edelman won the one-meter springboard and placed second in the three-meter springboard.
Both the men and women now head to Miami for their next competition scheduled for 9:00 a.m., October 7, 2000.
