Men’s Basketball 1998-99 Schedule Finalized

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A trip to Hawaii for the Rainbow Classic, a November
home game with state rival Florida and the always difficult 16-game
Atlantic Coast Conference schedule highlight the 1998-99 Florida State
men’s basketball schedule, released today by the FSU athletics department.


The Seminoles, 18-14 a year ago and coming off a second round NCAA
Tournament appearance, open the season on Friday November 13 at home
against Sam Houston State at 7:00 p.m. Florida State will host Florida at
7:00 p.m. on Friday November 20, the night before the two teams meet in
football in Tallahassee.


FSU will play in its first holiday tournament since the 1989-90 ECAC
Holiday Festival when it travels to Honolulu, HI for the Rainbow Classic on
December 27-30. The Seminoles will take on Princeton on ESPN in the first
round of that tournament.


Other non-conference highlights include a home date with Auburn on
Sunday, December 6 and a trip to Temple on Monday, December 14.


Florida State opens the ACC schedule on Tuesday, December 1 at Virginia.
FSU hosts its first league game on Wednesday, January 6 against North
Carolina. The conference tournament will be held March 4-7 in the
Charlotte Coliseum.


The Seminoles will appear on television at least 25 times during the
upcoming season with at least 11 games scheduled for national broadcast.
