TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Senior Damous Anderson scored 16 points on
7-of-8 shooting from the field to lead the Garnet to a 62-48 victory over
the Gold on Tuesday night at the Leon County Civic Center in Florida
State’s annual Garnet and Gold Game.

“I saw some good things out there from both teams,” said FSU head
coach Steve Robinson. “Damous played very well and showed a lot of
leadership out there. He made a lot of positive things happen tonight.”

Anderson’s three-pointer with 10:10 remaining gave the Garnet the
lead for good at 40-37. He and junior Matt Chlebek, who finished with 11
points, each scored five points in a late 14-5 run that put the game away.

Senior Oliver Simmons added 13 points and six rebounds for the
Garnet while Chlebek hit 3-of-4 from three-point range.

Senior Ron Hale led the Gold with 13 points but hit just 3-of-16
from the floor. Sophomore Antwuan Dixon was the only other Gold player in
double figures and finished with 11 points. Freshman Nigel Dixon scored
eight points, grabbed five rebounds and blocked three shots.

The Seminoles open their exhibition schedule next Wednesday at the
Civic Center against the World Basketball All-Stars. Tip-off is set for
7:00 p.m.
