TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) – Ron Hale scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds,
while Damous Anderson added 19 points as Florida State beat North Carolina
State 71-59 Saturday.
Hale, averaging 20.4 points in Atlantic Coast Conference games, scored eight
straight points in a span of less than two minutes midway through the second
half. That ignited a 16-2 spurt that gave the Seminoles a 54-46 lead with 6:07
Anderson, a junior-college transfer who joined the team at semester break,
scored the final five points in the decisive run.
Terrell Baker added 15 points for Florida State (11-7, 5-2), which needs one
more win to match last season’s total in ACC play. The Seminoles are tied with
10th-ranked North Carolina for third place in the ACC, trailing No. 2 Duke and
No. 4 Maryland.
The Seminoles, who led 30-29 at halftime, shot 16 free throws in the final
1:23 as North Carolina State desperately tried to get back into the game.
Ron Kelley scored 14 points and Adam Harrington added 11 for North Carolina
State (12-7, 2-5). Harrington scored all of his points in the first half.
The Wolfpack shot 56.4 percent from the floor, but took only 39 shots as
they committed 19 turnovers and were beaten on the boards 34-22 by the quicker
