CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) – Adrian Crawford scored 22 points as Florida
State overcame a 14-point second-half deficit Tuesday night to defeat Virginia
Crawford, Terrell Baker and Karim Shabazz made critical free throws in the
final 1:05 after Crawford sank a 22-footer to put Florida State up by one,
66-65, with 1:24 to play.
Ron Hale added 19 points for Florida State (3-1, 1-0 Atlantic Coast
Conference), and Baker finished with 11. Shabazz led the game in rebounds with
Donald Hand led Virginia (4-3, 0-1) with 19 points, and Chris Williams added
18. The Cavaliers, who stretched a 4-point lead at intermission before Florida
State’s comeback, went only 3-for-15 from 3-point range.
Virginia was outscored 14-4 during a six-minute stretch that culminated with
Crawford’s 3-pointer giving Florida State its first lead since midway through
the first half.
