TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) – Continuing its late bid for a second straight NCAAappearance, Clemson held Florida State without a field goal for more than 14minutes and only two in the first half, handing the Seminoles their worst homeloss in history, 78-49, Sunday.
Tony Christie scored a career-high 19 points and Greg Buckner added 16 forClemson, which led 28-10 by the time Florida State managed its first field goalwith 5:47 left in the half.
Christie hit 7 of 12 shots, including 5 of 10 from 3-point distance.
Clemson (15-10, 5-7 Atlantic Coast Conference) led 42-17 at halftime on itsway to its third straight win – all by 25 points or more.
Seven-foot freshman Karim Shabazz led Florida State with 10 points and agame-high 8 rebounds.
Florida State (16-10, 5-8) finished the half with only 2 field goals in 20tries, losing its third straight game. The Seminoles have lost three straightgames and 9 of their last 14.
It was the second time in as many games the Seminoles trailed by 25 athalftime. They were behind Duke 49-24 last Tuesday.
Florida State played without starters Terrell Baker and Randell Jackson.Baker was in New Jersey with his ailing mother while Jackson was idled with alower abdominal pull.
