The Seminoles return home for their first action since a thrilling
80-76 overtime win over Murray State in the consolation championship game
of the Rainbow Classic in Hawaii last Wednesday when they take on North
Carolina tonight at 7 p.m. in a game televised by ESPN. FSU won its final
two games in the tournament (also defeating Mississippi State) after
opening the tournament with a loss to Princeton. Senior guard Terrell
Baker was voted to the Rainbow Classic All-Tournament team after averaging
19.3 points on 54.1 percent shooting in the three games. Sophomore point
guard Delvon Arrington averaged 6.7 assists during the tournament and
posted an assist-to-turnover ratio of better than 3-to-1 (20-6).
North Carolina comes into the game after their first ACC win of the
season, a 69-53 defeat of Clemson in Chapel Hill.
Tonight’s game will be the 28th meeting between FSU and North
Carolina on the hard wood. UNC owns a 22-5 advantage in the series and
have won three straight and 12 of the last 14. Florida State has won two
of the five meetings with the Tar Heels in Tallahassee.
