Men’s Basketball Team Arrives in Australia Today

Aug. 12, 1999

The Florida State men’s basketball team touched down in Australia
this afternoon, 25 hours after its journey to the Land Down Under began on
Wednesday. The 14-hour time difference between Melbourne, Australia and
Tallahassee had the Seminoles touching down on foreign soil at 6:00 a.m. on
Friday and actually losing a day during their trip.

FSU will spend the next day adjusting to the time difference but
hit the ground running. The Seminoles open their seven-game tour on
Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Melbourne time (5:30 a.m. in Tallahassee) against the
Melbourne Tigers.

Florida State will spend four days in Melbourne and play a second
game in the city on Monday against the Melbourne Titans.

The Florida State Department of Athletics official website – – will be the best way for Seminole fans to follow the
men’s basketball team on its tour of Australia. Game results and stories
as well as player and coach diaries will be posted to the site throughout
the trip.
